My life is wonderful!

I graduated from Whitman College and I have a MS Degree from Simmons College. I studied no art.

I met and married my husband, Jim, a long time ago. We raised five children. They are raising five grandchildren. They are wonderful!

After my husband’s corporate career and living a number of places around the country, we and another person bought a business that kept us very busy. Along the way I earned an instrument rated commercial pilot license; that, too, was wonderful!

Eighteen years later, we sold the business and moved on to the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State across Admiralty Inlet from Whidbey Island and Everett beyond.

I don’t remember not sewing. I became interested in fabric and thread as art mediums a long time ago. I have always loved quilts;
I became fascinated with the way traditional quilters were moving color through their quilts. The Art Quilt by Penny McMorris and Michael Kile opened the door to my next “wonderful life”.

I had promised myself some art education when we retired and have taken classes at the community college level and painting classes from a number of instructors. It wasn’t until I walked through a Nancy Crow classroom at the Coupeville Art Center that I knew I could be taught to design art quilts. Finally, I was able to take my first class from Nancy in 1995. Many Nancy Crow classes later, along with classes from Liz Axford, Elizabeth Busch, Jane Dunnewold, Michael James, Ann Johnston, Carol Soderlund, David Walker, Ned Wert and others,
I dye fabrics and make and exhibit art quilts. I continue living a truly wonderful life.
